In 2013 I made a slideshow for my dorm at Stanford in a direct copy of the guy who was in my position the year before me. After that I was hooked, and while it took me a few years to figure out how to do it quickly, over the years a few cool videos of some great memories have popped up.
Itching to get out, I followed Lulu to south Utah to see the mountains and desert of southern Utah and northern Arizona.

2020 has been quite the year for everyone. I feel very fortunate to be able to experience it feeling safe, and yet still the force of current events extended into my life. Here's my small attempt at capturing an enormous year.

As summer 2020 came to a close, I was itching to leave home. I headed up to the mountains, stopping in 4 states to see the western US.
Felt time to stretch the legs and get out of Los Angeles.
In March 2020 the world entered a new era, characterized by uncertainty and volatility. In we California kicked off the new normal with an economic shutdown. Not really a quarantine by any real definition... more like a Quarantina Wine Mixer!
Our first year anniversary just happened to line up with the first time since Coronavirus that restrictions are loosening up. So we packed up the car and headed a few hours north for a few nights!

We had a trip down to Los Cabos planned for mid March. We spent the weekend in paradise, and then came back to a completely different world than the one we left.

At the end of 2019 I hopped on a plane to Norway to see the Northern Lights. I left with dreams of green lights and a 12 day ticket up to the arctic circle and back... but sometimes plans change!
2019 was a busy year. As I sat down to pull together some of my favorite memories, locations and shots, I was struck by the amount of places I was able to see and things I was able to do. So, here I pulled together some fun stats from my 2019!
2019, we spent the weekend before Christmas in New York City. After hitting up a few of the classics, we headed back to Southern California for Christmas Day on Catalina Island.
I took a quick trip up to the Pacific Northwest in order to catch the fall leaves before we head in to winter.
On Oct 23 2019 I ran my 5,000th mile, less than 3 years after I first stepped on the treadmill. I’ve had the opportunity to rack up many of those miles in some very pretty places.
As September wrapped up, the idea of a scuba trip became more and more unshakable. Wanting to get out of the cold CA Pacific, we headed back to one of my old favorites, although this time to a new island.
Summer 2019 was highlighted with a huge Euro Trip with someone special. She headed over early to scope out the place, while I made a stop in the Middle East. But August 1st, we met up for this adventure!
I made plans to be in Europe in August.... and yet that seems like such a far flight for just one trip. So I took a trip to The Holy Land to check out Israel and to see Petra.
A trip to the airport just doesn't seem worth it unless I see some nature... or at least what I'm telling myself these days. The plan was to head up to Seattle for the 4th of July, so I matched it with a trip out to Glacier National Park.
Called by the photos of Lake Louise, I’ve been waiting for it to get warm enough to head up to the Canadian Rockies. This time, someone special came with me!
For Mother's Day we jumped in the car to visit the Mojave Desert, spending a night at Lake Arrowhead on the way.
I'd like to tell you there was some sort of theme behind this trip, but there was not. It started with the thought that I wanted to visit Miami Beach before climate change wipes it out. I spent a few minutes on Google Flights to see what I could tack on after, picked Bermuda, got on the plane and figured I'd make it up as I go along.
I wanted to make a trip back to St. Louis and so I reached out to some old friends and mentors. I got the timing just right and was going to head back for the most important holiday in St. Louis: Opening Day! But... that was 8 days away...
Winter 2019 was particularly cold and rainy, and by mid March I needed to warm my bones. I was called by the volcano and wanted to see hot lava. Well, it wasn't until I got there that I realized while lava was visible and Kilauea had been erupting 1983, the eruption ended in May 2018. No lava... and yet no problem!
I took a quick trip to Alaska, chasing the Northern Lights. While I didn’t get lucky, I did get to see Alaska in the winter, both in the Anchorage area, and by taking a round trip train to Fairbanks.
2018 was an amazing year, full of changes, travel and new experiences. Here I tried to pull together some of the best shots to really sum up a busy year.
For Christmas 2018 I joined my grandmother and Uncle in Mexico City. After spending the holiday (and her birthday) exploring the city I took off to Cabo San Lucas to enjoy the final days of 2018.
I flew to Kauai for 4 days in December 2018. I was able to take a catamaran out to the Napoli Coast, took a helicopter ride and rented a car. Kauai was where Jurassic Park was filmed, and so I borrowed from the film in a few of the opening shots!
In December 2018 I took a trip to Kauai and took a helicopter ride. During the ride they piped in music, but by far the coolest moment was when they flew us through the valleys to the Jurassic Park music. This was an attempt to capture the experience.
In October of 2018 I had the unfortunate luck of having my 5 year reunion and cousins wedding scheduled on the same day. While I could make the dinner the night before reunion, it felt like a lot of effort for one night. So, instead, I created a better reason to travel and booked a trip to “see fall colors.” As I flew in to Jackson Hole, my jaw dropped, and I just rented a car and… started driving.
After 2+ years I decided to revisit my trip through the Inca trail through the Salkantay Pass
When I quit my job, I knew I wanted to travel. As soon as I got my passport renewed, I asked myself where I wanted to go. In all honesty, it was the marketing picture of Machu Picchu on the Chase Travel portal that called me, so I decided I was going to see that. Well, very quickly, I frankenstein-ed most of a trip together (the rest would happen along the way), packed up my apartment and sent my stuff to storage, and… left.
In 2018 I quit my job at Anheuser-Busch. It was my first company out of college, I had been there for 5 years, and I left hungry to explore. Hungry and without an empty passport page (seriously… what a problem). So I sent my passport out and thought “where can I go that’s something really special and I don’t need a passport.” And then I thought “what won’t be around next time I get the chance.”
In 2013 I got in the car after graduation and drove to St. Louis, where I began first job at Anheuser-Busch. I started in Tech Innovation, moved to Corporate Finance to join the Treasury team, and ended my time in FP&A for the Marketing Team. It was an amazing ride! The song is a 2015, I believe it is still available on iTunes.
In late 2017 my dad offered to take me to Asia, both for a conference in Singapore and to see the factories where his products were made. The conference ended up being cancelled, and I ended up tacking on a trip to Australia to visit an old friend stationed out in no man’s land (I figured I’d be on that side of the Pacific, might as well… that was crazy).
The 2017 Kirshner family vacation was in Greece, on the yacht the Endless Summer. This video is set to original music by Brett and Chris, written and performed on the boat and then later recorded and produced to create the song here.
The 2016 Kirshner summer trip was in the French Riviera and Northern Tuscan Coast on the yacht the Element. The music was written and performed live on the trip by Brett and our steward Reese, and then later produced by Brett using the voice recordings of Reese.
My mom is amazing. She fosters substance-exposed newborns. This means that at any given time, she has a 1 day (literally) - 4 month old. At least one - sometimes more. She began in early 2013, and has helped more families than I can count. This was a Mother’s Day tribute in 2016.
Cleaning up my digital life, in March 2019 I stumbled upon some pictures and videos I had taken for an app for the Budweiser Tour. I pulled together some of my favorites, as well as a few I took during my time at AB, and threw this together. Say what you will about the corporation, but that brewery is a special place.
In 2015 I took an amazing trip from Budapest, through Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey to Iran, where we spent 6 days visiting 4 cities in Iran. At the time, the deadline for the negotiations for the Iran Nuclear Deal were coming up as we were in Budapest, getting ready to get on the train. Well, the politicians did their thing, and it did not effect our trip, allowing us to be the first American tourist group in Iran in a long time (that’s why you see so many TV crews, people flocking, etc).
The Kirshner summer trip in 2014 was to Lake Como, in northern Italy. We stayed in the worst most amazing villa. This was our trip enjoying the house, boating on the lake, and visiting the nearby towns.
In 2013 we took a family trip to Croatia and Greece on the yacht O'Rion. In 2019 I created this video for Father's Day to remember a great trip with a lot of great people!
A slideshow created to celebrate the 2012-2013 group of students who lived in the Phi Sig House (imagine a co-ed frat house, without the frat). I gathered photos from all of the residents, and then asked them to weigh in on superlatives.
This was a quick project pulled together for two reasons. First, to announce that the slideshow I had been harassing people about (to send me photos and weigh in on the superlatives) for 2 months. Second, to highlight a peer who has written and performed music for the house earlier in the year. The audio is a recording from that night.
This was a video created for a Spanish Class project. We had to pick a song in Spanish and create a music video.
I did not bother to learn the song; I think you can tell.
The summer of 2020 is a difficult summer across the world. Channeling a more fun time, back when Americans were welcome around the world, I threw together a video for my 2012 Semester at Sea.
~60 days through the Mediterranean, crossing the Atlantic twice, playing lip service to education, and experiencing the world!
In 2011 TK resurrected an old, beloved family trip: the Kirshner Family Boat Trip. For our first incarnation of the next generation of Kirshner Boaters, we went back to some old favorites: Saint-Tropez, Portofino, and the other world class stops on the Ligurian Sea.
